Monica + Chris’ Grand Victorian Wedding, Niagara-on-the-lake

Sometimes you get last minute bookings and sometimes people are so in love with your work, that they book you more than a year in advance. Monica + Chris were my first 2018 booking… way back toward the beginning of 2016. Monica wanted classic wedding florals in whites and greens for her August, Niagara-on-the-lake wedding. But being bubbly and subtly quirky, there needed to be a unique twist. We landed at prioritizing natural textures and whimsical botanical accents. The table arrangements featured tumbling tendrils of Love-in-a-Puff vine, slatey blue eryngium (thistles) and soft acacia foliage with a hint of smokey lavender. Monica told me their sweets table would feature some of their favourite goodies plus August’s best Niagara-grown fruit. I decided to accent the table arrangements and pillar candles with ripening blackberries still on the vine and heirloom tomatoes in shades of deep eggplant and green. We even extended the textured greenery motif overhead by embellishing the wrought iron chandeliers with lush greenery – including climbing hydrangeas from my own garden. All the details together made this tent wedding at The Grand Victorian Bed + Breakfast in Niagara-on-the-Lake a perfect representation of August in Southern Ontario. Extra thanks goes to Danielle at Shaw Events for expert coordination and styling and Yuki Noda Photography for capturing every moment and detail.

Congrats Monica + Chris! May you remember this day every time you bite into a perfect plum, smell a ripe peach, and see a reaching vine.
